While on holiday with family in christchurch over the Easter break, the opportunity to join the Canscoot guys on a ride out to Akaroa was too good to miss so the PX was packed onto the trailer for the drive to shakey town.
The weather forecast was grim but the rain missed us and it was an awesome day. After a stop at little river for coffee we went to O’Kains bay, quite a nice place for camping and very close to the sea.
The ride to Akaroa was excellent for the scooters and other than the odd motorist that had broken down in the middle of the road on a blind corner the roads were excellent.
Trying to find somewhere nice yet cost effective to eat in Akaroa was impossible so we had fish and chips at a local chippie that had burnt down over christmas and was doing a roaring trade. An english couple were overheard leaving the premises muttering “$24 for fish and chips ? they’re having a laugh aren’t they ?” Pretty thrifty some of those poms.
While relaxing in sunny in Akoroa we met up with a man riding a VBB, a very tidy light blue one, who joined us for the ride back to ch-ch.
Like all good rides on the scooter it was over too early.
